  Moment of outrage
Okay, so my roommate sent me a text late last night stating that there was a news story about a Wrightsville Beach, NC, restaurant firing a worker who had HIV.  Of course, there will probably be a lawsuit ensuing.  I hope so.  That is not a fair reason to fire a person.  I have a friend who was fired from his firm for having HIV.  It is a manner of discrimination.  The news station (WWAY TV 3) apparently has not updated their website to show the news story, but they have an online poll asking if someone with HIV should be allowed to work in a restaurant.  So far, 79% have answered in a resounding no.

So, lets poll.  Should people with Hepatitis C or any other communicable disease be allowed to work in restaurants?  There are so many people out there with various diseases that can be communicated in the same manner, that it seems almost ridiculous to have this sort of discrimination.

Can you tell that this fries me?  I just can’t believe the naivety of the people out there today.

Comments:
I have worked in a restaurant before, and you occasionally nick yourself with a knife, or bumping against something. Handling food is a big deal, and handling food with a fatal disease like Hep C is an even bigger deal. I almost always come down on the liberal side, but some things are just too risky, and given the frequency that small cuts occur in a kitchen, unfortunately I disagree with you on this one. Just my opinion.

Randomness...the true order of the world.

Travel the world in one day, rest your legs beside the sea; hope the people that you meet, will friends forever be. Okay..so that was a little random. But so is life. You never know when all the luck is going your way, or if the rabbit's foot is going to turn bad. I haven't been around the world, except in my reading and movies. I stay outta politics, prefering to be neutral territory. Friends who are in trouble come to see me; when I get into trouble, I stay retreated into secrecy. But I make time for all of it. I believe strongly in being yourself...that is the only way that you will truly be happy. Do what is right for you, you can only live life once. Don't get lost in the depths of my mind....
