One day left
Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one getting burned.
~ Buddha
Only one day left until I get two teeth horribly cut out of my mouth. Well, maybe not horribly. But still, I will have two holes in my jaws. So, this might be my last post for a little while…we shall see.
So, let me go ahead and give you the previews for this week’s movie releases. Maybe someone can recommend something good…
Cars, Rated G, Nationwide Release,
starring Paul Newman, Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt, "Larry the Cable Guy", Cheech Marin
Lightning McQueen, a hotshot rookie race car driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. On route across the country to the big Piston Cup Championship in California to compete against two seasoned pros, McQueen gets to know the town's offbeat characters--including Sally, a snazzy 2002 Porsche, Doc Hudson, a 1951 Hudson Hornet with a mysterious past, and Mater, a rusty but trusty tow truck voiced, who help him realize that there are more important things than trophies, fame and sponsorship.
A Prairie Home Companion, Rated PG-13, Nationwide Release,
starring Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones, Garrison Keillor, Kevin Kline, Lindsay Lohan
After 32 years, Garrison Keillor's radio variety show is coming to an end. Set on a rainy Saturday night in St. Paul, Minnesota, fans file into the Fitzgerald Theater to see "A Prairie Home Companion," a staple of radio station WLT, not knowing that WLT has been sold to a Texas conglomerate and that tonight's show will be the last. Backstage cast and crew assemble for one last hurrah. They include: The Johnson Sisters, Yolanda and Rhonda, a country duet act that has survived the county-fair circuit; Lola, who gets her big chance to sing on the show and then forgets the words; Guy Noir, a private eye down on his luck who works as a backstage doorkeeper; and Dusty and Lefty, the Old Trailhands, a singing cowboy act.
Chup Chup Ke, Limited Release,
starring Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Isha Sharvani, Neha Dhupia, Sunil Shetty
The movie is a feel-good romantic comedy of errors and mistaken identities. Shahid Kapoor, an unlucky but good hearted young man, finds himself faking his own death to escape his various creditors and free his family from disgrace. Shahid ends up not dead but in another town being forced to assume another identity as a mute to avoid too many questions. His love interest is Kareena Kapoor, who plays a mute by birth in the film. Shahid is trapped in a false identity and lands from one scrape into another as he tries to hide his secret in this romantic family comedy.
Cars looks like it is going to the better of the two nationwide releases this weekend. Disney and Pixar…who can go wrong there?
Anyway, have a great weekend!
