A good thing to remember....
As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.
It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Falwell Backs 'Reorientation Therapy' for Gay, Questioning Teens by Ross von Metzke
Asheville, NC - Speaking at the annual conference of Exodus International, the nation’s largest religious group promoting the idea that gays can change their sexual orientation, the Rev. Jerry Falwell endorsed forcing gay kids into counseling designed to change their sexual orientation.
Jerry Falwell compared allowing a child to identify as gay with allowing children to play on the interstate. Falwell went on to dismiss psychologists’ claims that consent is fundamental to a healthy counseling relationship and that parents should not force their gay kids into therapy.
Exodus International’s 30th annual Freedom Conference took place last week at the Baptist Ridgecrest conference center near Asheville, North Carolina. Featured speakers included Falwell and psychotherapist Dr. Nancy Heche, mother of actress Anne Heche who spent three years at the center of a very public relationship with Ellen DeGeneres.
According to the Associated Press, nearly 1,000 people participated in the weeklong program that featured workshops on spiritual warfare, fulfilling traditional gender roles and organizing as a political movement.
This year’s conference was in the spotlight more than usual because one of the Exodus member ministries, Love in Action, is under investigation by the Tennessee Department of Health for violations of state law. Love in Action advertised therapeutic counseling to treat homosexuality as well as drug, alcohol and porn addiction.
Earlier this week, 16-year-old Zach Stark, who made national headlines with web blogs suggesting his parents were forcing him into reparative therapy to turn him straight, was released from Love in Action.
Stark’s story helped to raise issues of safety and professionalism at Love in Action. Since the story first broke, activists have been working with the state of Tennessee on an ongoing investigation.Copyright 2005 GayWired.com, All Rights ReservedKinda scary...and a little funny considering I opened my email this morning to the following quotes:

Okay, I am not discussing much at the moment, as I do not care to discuss it from my current location. So probably this week I will elaborate some more on this. So, instead, I am going to eat some peanut butter and post the recent quotes, etc that I have received via email and pray for this week/month to be over and done with.

-- Epictetus (55-135 AD) Roman Philosopher
There is no path to that which is beyond all the paths that men have made and trodden. To find that pathless reality, you have to see the truth in the false, or the false as the false. If you perceive that the path you have trodden is false - not in comparison with something else, not through the judgment of disappointment, nor through the evaluation of social morality, but false in itself - then that very perception of the false is awareness of the true.

Catch up!!

There is no path to reality. Reality is a pathless land, and you must venture out and discover it for yourself. It is because you are frightened inwardly that you depend on something, on the priest, or on a belief, and so you get caught in the net of an organized religion.
I feel that no one can lead another to truth, because truth is infinite; it is a pathless land, and no one can tell you how to find it. No one can teach you to be an artist; another can only give you the brushes and canvas and show you the colours to use.
You cannot discover the path, because there is no path, Truth is a thing that is living, and to a living thing there is no path - it is only to dead things that there can be a path. Truth being pathless, to discover it you must be adventurous, ready for danger; and do you think a guru will help you to be adventurous, to live in danger? To seek a guru obviously indicates that you are not adventurous, that you are merely seeking a path to reality as a means of security.

Okay, so the last week wasn't the greatest in my life. But that is okay. I am a strong person and can move on with no problems. Me and Brian have decided to remain friends...he has a lot of decisions to make regarding school, work and his personal life. I know that he hasn't had a lot of time for his daughter as of late either, so that has been a weighing factor on him. I wish him all the best of luck, and I will always be there for him if he needs a shoulder cry on. After all, friends can provide the sturdiest foundation to rebuild from when all else has failed.

Doggie Mind Games1. After your humans give you a bath, DON'T LET THEM TOWEL DRY YOU! Instead, run to their bed, jump up and dry yourself off on the sheets. This is especially good if it's right before your human's bedtime. (and they have just put the white satin sheets on the bed)
2. Act like a convicted criminal. When the humans come home, put your ears back, tail between your legs, chin down and act as if you have done something really bad. Then, watch as the humans frantically search the house for the damage they think you have caused. (Note: This only works when you have done absolutely nothing wrong.)
3. Let the humans teach you a brand new trick. Learn it perfectly. Then the humans try to demonstrate it to someone else, stare blankly back at the humans. Pretend you have no idea what they're talking about.
4. Make your humans be patient. When you go outside to go 'pee', sniff around the entire yard as your humans wait. Act as if the spot you choose to go pee will ultimately decide the fate of the earth.
5. Draw attention to the human. When out for a walk always pick the busiest, most visible spot to go 'poo'. Take your time and make sure everyone watches. This works particularly well if your humans have forgotten to bring a plastic bag.
6. When out for a walk, alternate between choking and coughing every time a strange human walks by.
7. Make your own rules. Don't always bring back the stick when playing fetch with the humans. Make them go and chase it once in a while.
8. Hide from your humans. When your humans come home, don't greet them at the door. Instead, hide from them, and make them think something terrible has happened to you. (Don't reappear until one of your humans is panic-stricken and close to tears).
9. When your human calls you to come back in, always take your time. Walk as slowly as possible back to the door.
10. Wake up twenty minutes before the alarm clock is set to go off and make the humans take you out for your morning pee. As soon as you get back inside, fall asleep.. (Humans can rarely fall back asleep after going outside, this will drive them nuts!Rules for Non-Pet Owners Who Visit and like toComplain About Our Pets

3. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adoptedson/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all foursand doesn't speak clearly. Gossip according to Krishnamurti....cont'd
I think, first of all, we gossip about others because we are not sufficiently interested in the process of our own thinking and of our own action. We want to see what others are doing and perhaps, to put it kindly, to imitate others. Generally, when we gossip it is to condemn others, but, stretching it charitably, it is perhaps to imitate others. Why do we want to imitate others? Doesn't it all indicate an extraordinary shallowness on our own part? It is an extraordinarily dull mind that wants excitement, and goes outside itself to get it. In other words gossip is a form of sensation, isn't it?, in which we indulge. It may be a different kind of sensation, but there is always this desire to find excitement, distraction. If one really goes into this question deeply, one comes back to oneself, which shows that one is really extraordinarily shallow and seeking excitement from outside by talking about others. Catch yourself the next time you are gossiping about somebody; if you are aware of it, it will indicate an awful lot to you about yourself. Don't cover it up by saying that you are merely inquisitive about others. It indicates restlessness, a sense of excitement, a shallowness, a lack of real, profound interest in people which has nothing to do with gossip.

The writings of Krishnamurti
I wonder why we gossip? is it because it reveals others to us?
And why should others be revealed to us? Why do you want to
know others? Why this extraordinary concern about others?
First of all, why do we gossip? It is a form of restlessness, is it
not? Like worry, it is an indication of a restless mind. Why this
desire to interfere with others, to know what others are doing,
saying? It is a very superficial mind that gossips, isn't it? - an
inquisitive mind which is wrongly directed. The questioner
seems to think that others are revealed to him by his being
concerned with them - with their doings, with their thoughts,
with their opinions. But do we know others if we don't know
ourselves? Can we judge others, if we do not know the way of
our own thinking, the way we act, the way we behave? Why
this extraordinary concern over others? Is it not an escape,
really, this desire to find out what others are thinking and
feeling and gossiping about? Doesn't it offer an escape from
ourselves? Is there not in it also the desire to interfere with
others' lives? Isn't our own life sufficiently difficult, sufficiently
complex, sufficiently painful, without dealing with others',
interfering with others'? Is there time to think about others in
that gossipy, cruel, ugly manner? Why do we do this? You know,
everybody does it. Practically everybody gossips about
somebody else. Why?

Student Activists Rally to Fight Ban on Gay Blood Donation
07.11.05 By Ross von Metzke
A number of New England
universities, spearheaded by the University of Maine at Orono, have joined forces to protest a more than decade long ban on blood donation by men who have had sex with men.
Students argue that the policy, originally intended to keep
HIV positive blood from contaminating the nation's blood supply, implies that gay men are inherently sick and that it prevents healthy people from donating.
For years, gay rights advocates have rallied against the ban, but occasional protests and talks with the Food and Drug
Administration, which oversees blood banks, have brought no change.
Now,
college students are taking a new approach. Instead of pressuring the FDA directly, they are targeting the American Red Cross, which is the largest and highest-profile blood collector in the United States.
Unlike America's Blood Centers, which represents the non-Red Cross blood banks that collect most of the nation's blood, the Red Cross publicly supports the policy. Activists say that if they can get the Red Cross to change its stance, the FDA will follow.
College students and gay rights advocates contend that the policy is outdated, ineffective and homophobic.
All blood is tested before use, according to the FDA, and enforcement of the policy depends solely on whether potential male donors cop to having had sex with other men on a pre-donation survey. Most important, the activists say, the danger of HIV contamination comes from people who practice unsafe sex, regardless of the donor's sexual orientation.
The new round of protests began in May at the University of Maine at Orono, where the student government banned the Red Cross from conducting blood drives on campus. It opened the campus only to a blood collection company that supported changing the FDA rule.
The disputed policy dates to 1990, when the FDA codified a rule banning blood donations from any man who had had sex with another man since 1977. The policy started as a guideline in 1983, before blood could be tested for HIV. It has remained in place, officials say, because of concern over
HIV infection among MSM’s.
The FDA says allowing men in that category to donate would bring so much HIV positive blood into the system that even rare errors could allow infected blood to slip through safeguards. Fourteen million units of blood are donated and processed in the United States every year.
At an FDA
hearing in 2000, the last time the agency reviewed its policy, the Red Cross testified in favor of keeping what the industry calls a "lifetime deferral" for men who have had sex with men. The FDA's panel of specialists voted, 7 to 6, to maintain the ban.

I'm back...
Hey guys,

Hope you had a good 4th of July...things weren't too bad here! Hit the beach a couple of times on Saturday and Sunday, so I have some color. The speedo tan lines are just lovely too. ;-) Did fireworks on Monday, a good distance from the crowd, but close enough to still have good seats. Even managed to get out of downtown within about 30 minutes...which was a shocker in itself.

Anyway, I managed to actually capture some of the fireworks on my phone. The better ones were too bright...was fun actually watching on the phone because it was like a strobe light...and then you had the smoke from the explosions and it was cool. But here ya go...enjoy!
